Checking In

Well hello!

Yes, I still am alive and still have this blog even though I have not written for 11 months.

Sometimes I don't know if what I have to say is valuable enough to waste your time reading. I also worry that my intent with the words I write is not fully understood by my readers. I have been toying with the idea of just shutting things down and moving on with some other hobby, but my husband, Chad, seems to think our lifestyle is something of an anomaly and may be interesting to others. So with that I'm back, at least for now, with my focus being slow, conscience living, local food, cooking from scratch, small-scale gardening, and chickens.

For those who are new here, or for those who have forgotten, let me introduce myself: I am Rebecca, native Nebraskan currently residing in the shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.

My husband, Chad, our son, Remington, and I moved here 4 years ago so Chad could go back to school to pursue a masters degree. Chad is now employed at the university he attended while I stay home and manage the house, dabble in writing, history, gardening, and chicken care. Remington is a high school student, hunter, and generally all around good kid. We also have three grown daughters and one granddaughter spread all around the world.

So now that we have been re-introduced, tell me about YOU! And for my regular readers, I would like to hear what you enjoyed reading about in the past.  I have a request already for a life/acreage update, so stay tuned for that!
